I had a bad day. It started first thing. I misjudged while backing my car into a parking spot at work. Actually, to be more accurate,
I slammed my husband’s brand-new electric vehicle into a wall.
The day kinda went downhill from there.
I showed the girls the damage when I picked them up from school.
Mgazi: Ooooh. Daddy is going to be mad.
Me: No, I think it’s okay. I told him this morning. He’s not too mad.
Mgazi: No, he’s lying to you. He’s going to be mad.
Zaffron: I don’t think it’s so bad.
Me: Really?
Mgazi: No, she’s lying to you. It’s bad.
Zaffron suggested I scrape the other side of the car to match… she said that people would then think it was decoration.
Recommended wine: On days like today, I recommend you reach for whatever’s in the fridge. What’s in my fridge tonight? A California chardonnay called Three Wishes.
Once upon a time, there was an Erma Bombeck, a great wit & extraordinary humorist. She has not been replaced. Her space is still there and it’s yours and your girls’ !
Aunt Virginia, I love your crazy self! I remember Erma Bombeck. I used to read her when I was younger. I may even have a book on my bookshelf today! She was amazing!
Wow! I bought you that wine from whole foods to make your week easier…. Didn’t know it would be because you wrecked my car
Sorry!
Wow. I would be mad. But probably the kind of mad that surfaces as silent fuming. Hope you did not scrape your self when fainting! (which of course would put it in perspective, but…)
You would not have been mad! Well, maybe a little. But you are just as great a guy as Russell. You would have risen above!
Mgazi is headed for success in sitcoms. I’m sure of it. Good luck with the car. You know, I’m convinced that cars were made to be smashed. I can’t see how you can avoid that throughout the lifetime of a car. They move. Sometimes they move into things that aren’t moving (or are) and get smashed. Pretty understandable to me.
Mgazi has even accused herself of lying once. I kid you not.
Did you really faint???
Hey Maile! Did I fall dramatically to the pavement? No. But there was a momentary loss of consciousness or maybe avoidance of it when the reality of what I had done (and to which car) sunk in!
